Olympics…

Last week as we traveled to pick up my wonderful husband on the Appalachian Trail we had an opportunity to watch the Olympics and of course Michael Phelps!  What a great swimmer he is!

As I was watching the Olympics, I also realized that we have to be committed and disciplined as we strive to either lose weight, get toned or change our bad habits as any Olympian or athlete!

Also I was, and most importantly, thinking on the discipline it took for my husband to hike over 800 miles this time, and from the last two trips combined he hiked 2000 miles all together!

He hiked on behalf of fathers, but in that, he also had to change his eating habits and drinking habits.  He changed his sleeping patterns and he had to discipline himself to keep going even when he didn’t feel like it!

Doesn’t that sound familiar, amigas?  It is the same thing we go through every day as we continue in striving for better health and to achieve our weight loss goals!  What does it take?  How do we do it?

One difference, though, in hiking was that if he got tired on one of those mountains he had to keep going for there was no where to turn!  I have come to realize that the reason we sometimes give up is because we have the option.  What if that was taken away?003_3

I have shared the answers to those questions in my previous blogs but it is all worth repeating!

Remember the rules?  Water, exercise, change the amount of food you eat and also what you eat.  Reach out to exercise as a fun activity.  Make it a goal to do it as a family even if it is walking for 10 to 15 minutes a day.

This is just a few of the rules which are very important if you want to change the way you live and feel.

Amigas, all of this with your daily bread, God’s Word, and great Christian music will give you the strength to persevere!

This verse I came across during Bible Study yesterday and I wanted to share it with you.

2 Timothy 2:5 says, “And also if anyone competes in athletics, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules.”

Isn’t that so true?  We think about Michael Phelps, Cody Bateman, and all of us amigas!

Olympians and hikers we might not be, but we have the ability to lose the pounds, tone our bodies, or maintain if we just decide to and follow the rules!

Hasta Luego, amigas!

101_0712*Quick up date on my hiker, husband!  He is back home after three months and knowing that after much prayer the Lord showed him he had finished his ministry for now on the trail.  It is great having him home!  By his early arrival home, the Lord has opened the door for us to relocate to Bowling Green, Kentucky!  We are so excited to see what the Lord is doing!

I will keep you updated on the happenings of the Bateman Clan!  Thank you for all those who prayed for my husband and our family!  He has many stories to tell and the Lord opened many doors for evangelism!

Quick news! He ended up loosing 40 lbs and looks great!
