They ate their food with gladness…

Acts 2:46  “So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart.”

almonds-and-dried-fruit-~-73400859I love this verse!  What a great way to fellowship daily – and eating too!

Last week I mentioned that chips are a great addition to our lunches. So, let’s continue our journey of healthy eating!

This week, I want to share some more snack ideas – things that can be enjoyed either in morning or afternoon leading up to dinner.

Try eating fruits like apples, bananas, or even cantaloupe when possible.  Maybe try a half of a banana with a tablespoon of peanut butter – especially before working out!  One of my favorite snacks is almonds!  Don’t carry the can around with you! Instead, grab a handful and enjoy! A mixture of almonds and dry fruits are a great way to spice up your salads!

Mid-morning is a good time to get one of these “in-between” snacks.  Same thing in the afternoon. I really want to emphasize your keeping on schedule and sticking to your healthy routines.  This helps you remain disciplined, not to mention possibly being a good example for the little ones watching every thing you do around the house too!

Shifting gears a little; My husband, a few of the kids and I, had to take an unexpected trip to our home town of Miami, Florida (This is the same city where I gained all my weight).  While being there, I was tempted to eat all that amazing “Cuban” food.  I had a little bit of it but managed to resist falling into the same habit of overeating the food I enjoy so much… and thankfully, I didn’t remain tempted for long!  The neat thing? I was temperate in all these things and for that reason, I remained thankful for the little victories brought about by the learned habits of self-discipline and self-control.

I hope that you had a good week in working on being temperate, amigas!  Press on and don’t give up.  Enjoy all the various types of snacks available but remember to use restraint. These same snacks can be your friend, helping you to be both healthy and energized.

Till the next time, amigas!  Remember! Drink “agua” (water), exercise, rest, and daily eat the Word of God; your spiritual food!  They all work together.

2 Timothy 2:5 “And also if anyone competes in athletics, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules.”

Hasta Luego, amigas!
